What is Committee?

Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids.

The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team.

Ask your area staff person for a local list, and feel free to call these folks with your questions at any time.

The Young Life Committee
In 1939 a group of women gathered across from the high school in Gainesville, Texas, to pray that the kids in their community would hear about Jesus Christ. Though they didn't know it, those women were the first Young Life committee.
An Essential Foundation
Members of a Young Life committee are adults who are committed to providing every kid in their community the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ in terms they can understand.

Committee members pray for Young Life, promote the ministry in the community, care for the local staff and volunteer leaders, as well as ensure the financial health of the ministry.

Today, groups of adults serving on Young Life committees around the world are making a difference in the lives of kids in their communities. To learn more about serving on the Committee, email us at wilmington.yl@gmail.com and we will let you know when we begin our next Committee training!
